9 Chicken Wing Recipes - Brown Sugar Food Blog (1)

Whether for game day, sports parties, the Super Bowl, or just because, I am sure to have a chicken wing recipe that will make you and your tastebuds happy. Here is a recipe round-up of nine chicken wing recipes on my blog ranging from sweet, spicy, oven-baked, fried, or air fried.

Throughout my blog, I have spoken about how my family is a football family. Although I didn’t inherit the gene where I love the game necessarily, I do love the celebration of it all. I love tailgating, having sports parties, and definitely the food! To me, when you host a sports party, you have to have chicken wings, am I right?!

What makes a good chicken wing?

Chicken wings are good because of how well the chicken, itself, is seasoned. When I make my chicken wings or even my Homemade Fried Chicken, I use a few essential seasonings and spices and those are:

  • Kosher Salt
  • Coarse Black Pepper
  • Onion Powder
  • Garlic Powder
  • Smoked Paprika
  • Seasoned Salt

These seasonings go down with just about every chicken wing recipe I make. It’s something about the combination of these seasonings that just makes food extra flavorful. Not only do the wings have to be well seasoned, but they also have to be a delicious sauce, spice rub, or marinade! Some of those sauces/flavors include:

  • Buffalo Sauce
  • Mango Habernero Sauce
  • Garlic Parmesan coating (recipe forthcoming)
  • Lemon Pepper
  • Honey BBQ Sauce
  • Smoky Chargrilled
  • Hot Pepper Jelly Glaze
  • Honey Ginger BBQ
  • Cilantro Lime

Chicken Wings Cooking Methods

There are multiple ways that you can cook your chicken wings these days. In my recipe roundup, you will see that I don’t cook my wings one way. In fact, you can make any of these wings any way you want.

Deep-Fried: Deep frying chicken wings is one of the most popular methods my family prefers. Deep frying wings in vegetable oil or canola oil make really crispy wings with a lightly floured coating.

Air Fryer: Lately we have been cooking air fryer chicken wings. The key ingredient to make your wings really crispy if cooking in the air fryer is baking powder. I typically cook the wings at 400 degrees on both sides for 15 minutes to the best crispness outcome.

Bake: So like using the air fryer, baking wings in the oven is a great option especially when you are cooking a lot of wings at one time. I typically start baking the wings at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes and then crank up the heat to 425 for another 30 minutes to get the wings crispy.

Grill: This is probably my favorite way to eat wings because not only do you have the flavor of the wings, but I also love the flavor left behind by the grill itself.

After you make a few of these wings, all you need to do is set aside some dipping options that we all love, ranch dressing and blue cheese dressing and some celery sticks and carrot sticks. These wings have an amazing taste and will become staple appetizers.
