This week is Week Without Violence! "YWCA is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families, and strengthen communities. For more than 20 years, we have set aside one week in October as a Week Without Violence – a week to raise awareness and engage in action to end the broad spectrum of violence – as part of a global movement with World YWCA to end violence against women and girls. At YWCA, we know that not all violence is acknowledged or responded to equally and that some victims go unrecognized altogether. That’s why we focus on ending gender-based violence, including domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and harassment."Learn more at https://lnkd.in/eXgmAak.

It's time to acknowledge the unfortunate reality: almost every woman I know has experienced violation or trauma at the hands of men. This shared experience connects us and demands action. As Conor Pall has highlighted, we need more significant conversations involving men.I do a subject at university surrounding community engagement for social change and to develop this change; men need to be included in these discussions. Silence and complicity only perpetuate harmful behaviours and attitudes. By calling out our mates, we clearly communicate that disrespectful or harmful actions are unacceptable. We can challenge outdated norms, educate each other through open and honest conversations, and collectively create positive change. It's time to hold ourselves and our friends accountable, paving the way for a more inclusive and respectful society.Call out your mate for a change. #violenceagainstwomen #genderequality

Nine in 10 girls experience sexist name-calling or are sent explicit photos or videos. This fact alone proves exactly why we need to unite and make change happen. If you are unsure about the behaviours of others in your child’s school, please contact senior members of staff to ensure prevention and intervention strategies are in place.#16DaysOfActivism #GenderBasedViolence #Prevention #Awareness #Unite #SchoolSafetyJulie Proctor, Karen Wilbourn, Jenny Cross, Bhumika Parmar, Phil Houlder, Jay Nandha, Jastin Patel, Leanne Hennigan, Ash Payne.
