The pin is threaded on the inside. This may have been used to install the pin, but I don't see how to remove the pin.

Actually to remove the pin, I screwed in a fastener then used a nail puller and smacker it with a hammer. Pin came out.

Ok, for those who like me have found this thread when looking for help with their own ahower seat issues, I am going to give details about my experience.

I also have had a leak, and we have finalky tracked it to likely being from the shower seat attachment.
However that is not the reason I tackled this project.
The one side was loose from the wall.
Getting it off was very difficult. I first tried 10-32 screws screwed into the end of the pins (that seems to be what fits the threads on the end of the pins), but when I whacked on them with a hammer and prybar like Bman49 did, nothing happened. I hit them harder and the screws pulled out. I could not get any other type of screw to go in and hold.

So, I finally got out my Dremel and a chisel, and cut horizontally across the plastic covers at the level of the pins. This gave me access to the pins, which could then be directly treated with penetrating oil and then whacked on directly. They began to move!

Unfortunately this also meant that I was committed to buying a new seat.

This is what I found:

Thor had used screws which were long enough and held in the wood behind the shower wall well. The problem was the heads of the screws, which were too small in diameter and a couple had pulled thru the bracket. Some others were trying to pull thru. It doesn't matter how well the screw holds in the wall if it is not holding whatever it is you are fastening.
Most screws came out OK with the screwdriver/ wrench, but those that had pulled thru were too deformed and I had to use Vise-grips to get them out.

I also found the tile cracked under where the bracket had been.
Initially I thought it was from the bracket hitting the tile surface while loose and someone sat down. I eventually realized that the lower hole on that side was a quarter of an inch too high and the screw was hitting the edge of the hole and putting pressure on the tiles edge from the hole and that is likely what cracked it.
I reamed out that hole so the new screw won't hit.
To support the seat and avoid more damage to the tile, I got a 8 x 24 in 16 gauge plate which I drilled matching holes in. This will be glued over the tile (painted to match the tile more or less) and the new seat installed over that with screws that are big enough not to pull thru.
I will also carefully caulk around the screws behind the brackets and seal around the plate. This should also take care of the water leak, which did appear to be coming from one of the screws that pulled out of the bracket.
I will attach some pictures when the new seat arrives
