The Long Island Iced Tea combines just about every alcohol in your liquor cabinet, but in the most magical way. You are left with a co*cktail that is delicious, refershing, and a little dangerous.
If it has been decades since you’ve had a Long Island Iced Tea, go ahead and let yourself feel like a college student again. This co*cktail recipe is so easy to make, and is absolutely refreshing and delicious.
In fact, this recipe is so good, Nathan said to me, “There are so many types of alcohol in there I don’t like, and I love this.”
Long Island Iced Tea Ingredients
What’s in a Long Island Iced Tea? Everything. You really need to just grab your whole liquor cabinet for this one.
- Tequila
- Vodka
- White Rum
- Triple Sec
- Gin
- Simple Syrup
- Lemon Juice
- Coca-Cola
Simple Syrup
Simple Syrup is essential for any home bar. With just two ingredients, it is so easy to make and with my instructions, you can make it in so many different flavors!

How to Make a Long Island Iced Tea
This is a brief overview of how to make this delicious recipe. For the full recipe with all of the measurements, see the recipe card at the bottom of the post.
- Combine all of the liquor with the simple syrup and the lemon juice in a highball glass filled with ice.
- Fill the remainder of the glass with a splash of cola.
- Give everything a good stir, and garnish with a lemon wedge.
Orange Liqueur
Most of the time, I suggest using Cointreau when a recipe calls for Triple Sec. It is higher quality and higher alcohol content than Triple Sec. It is what we use in our Margarita Recipe.
In this case, there is so much flavor and plenty of alcohol. I think it is fine to go with the more budget friendly Triple Sec.
Variations
If you replace the co*ke and the triple sec with other ingredients, you can get some great spins on this classic co*cktail.
- Tokyo Iced Tea: Take out the triple sec and replace it with Midori, then switch the co*ke out for lemon lime soda.
- Long Beach Iced Tea: Instead of co*ke use cranberry juice.
- Purple Rain: Replace the triple sec with Chambord and the co*ke with lemon lime soda.
- Texas Tea: Add in an ounce of bourbon.
- Walk Me Down: Switch the triple sec out with Blue Curacao and the co*ke with lemon lime soda.
Other Classic co*cktails
If you want more classic co*cktails to make at home, here are some of our favorites:
- Amaretto Sour
- Dirty Martini

I am very anxious to try this recipe, we should have all the ingredients in our bar. But, we’ve been looking for a similar recipe that we used to get at a local 50s diner (T-Bird Diner) that closed many years ago and thought maybe you can help us out? It’s called a Tuna Fish Daiquiri, sounds way worse than it is, LOL. It’s very similar to a Long Island Iced Tea, but it’s only white ingredients, including lemon lime soda, then you add Blue Curacao and float a gummy shark on top, hence the “tuna fish”. Have you heard of this? I’ve been following you for a while now and I’ve made quite a few of your recipes, some multiple times, I’ve just never commented before. Thanks! And I look forward to more yummy recipes.Reply

We don’t drink alcoholic beverages but I do use Guinness and hard cider to cook with, plus a couple of other things in other recipes – but this looks and sounds just yummy! Too bad we both take meds that have our doctors saying, “No alcohol”. Love your recipes, Lisa!

Hi Cecile! You are looking to add about a tablespoon. It’s really just a splash.

Hi my name is Raquel Lopez. I was wondering if you had a Quiesh pie recipe that you could post. I’m not so sure if my spelling is correct. I ate one with spinach and bacon and cheese it was so delicious ❤️💯
